Berea Folklife, the English Department, the Forestry Outreach Center, and the Loyal Jones Appalachian Center are excited to invite you to a presentation by Afrolachian forager and herbalist Ruby Daniels on Wednesday, April 10, from 5:15-6:30pm at the Loyal Jones Appalachian Center. The event is free and open to the public and sweet and savory snacks from the Farm Store will be provided. Ruby Daniels is the proud owner of Creasy Jane’s, a herbal company. The company specializes in producing herbal products and fresh produce. Ruby learned about the healing properties of herbs from her grandmother, Fannie Shepherd, and her studies and practice. Ruby holds a Master’s degree in Therapeutic Herbalism with a focus on Afrolachian foods and herbs, field botany, and phytochemistry.

Apart from running her own herbal company, Ruby works as a Natural Resource Specialist for the Natural Resource Conservation Service. She has conducted workshops on forest farming, native Appalachian plants, and manufacturing herbal products. To learn more about Creasy Jane’s, you can visit their website at
