Event Details
Fire Cider is a folk remedy made with common kitchen ingredients and used as an immune-boosting tonic during the winter months. Traditionally, it’s made by infusing garlic, onions, horseradish and peppers in apple cider vinegar and honey, but you can add whatever you like to make it your own!
Participants will learn about the fascinating history of this remedy and craft their own version of Fire Cider using vegetables and herbs from the Berea College Farm. All materials provided and you will leave with your own pint of fire cider.
Sarah Barney is a farmer, ecologist and plant-enthusiast living in Beattyville, KY. She grows medicinal and culinary herbs on her off-grid farm in the Daniel Boone National Forest, Among the Oaks Farmstead, and makes a line of herbal products infused with botanicals from her farm.
